The aim
This presentation aims to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That aim is tested, not assumed, and the parts a machine cannot test are listed below.
Motion, and how to stop it
The presentation animates as you scroll and responds to the pointer. None of it is needed to read anything: every word and every image is in the page from the start, in reading order.
If your device asks for reduced motion, nothing moves. You can also switch motion off with “Reduce motion” in the header, at any time. Without motion, the gallery becomes a row you can scroll or swipe. The comparison stays a slider you can move with the arrow keys; with scripts switched off, it becomes two pictures one above the other.
The keyboard works as it does on any page: Page Down, Space and the arrow keys scroll the page, and no animation takes them over. The one exception is the comparison: while its sheet tabs or its divider has focus, the arrow keys (and, on the divider, Page Up, Page Down, Home and End) change the sheet or move the divider, as those controls do anywhere. Press Tab to move on. The index in the header, and the list of chapters at the side on wide screens, move you to any chapter.
What is checked automatically
The contrast of every colour pair the design uses, on every background, against a stricter floor than AA. Page structure: landmarks, one first-level heading, heading order, labelled navigation. That every image has a text alternative and reserves its space, so nothing shifts as the page loads. That a reduced-motion preference is honoured.
What automated checks cannot tell you
Automated testing finds roughly half of accessibility problems at best, and the kind that runs without a real browser finds less than that: it cannot judge contrast as rendered over a photograph, target sizes as laid out, or whether a focus outline is visible against what sits behind it. Those need a person. Until that review has happened, the honest statement is that this site’s accessibility is partly verified.
